Welcome to Loretto Cattery, we trust you enjoy your visit here and we welcome you back again soon.
We have decided to no longer breed persians. We will have our website up for all to see the wonderful cats and kittens that have been a huge part of our lives for so long, as a Gallery and tribute. Below reads how we were breeding, which we will leave up for those to read, as not every breeder breeds to improve on the persian standard!
We would like to thank all of those who have adopted a Loretto kitten and especially to those breeders who have taken Loretto kids into their own breeding programmes to continue our legacy to improve the persian breed.
Thank you for stopping by, and we hope you find what you are searching for (please visit our Links Page to visit reptuable breeders here in Australia and overseas).

Loretto Cattery's aim is to produce beautiful heathy persian kittens with cuddly teddy-bear personalities, with big sweet open expressions. We breed for health and temperament as our first priority above all else.
We spent all of the 2006 breeding season iradicating the PKD gene from our breeding stock. We are now proud to annouce we are a 100% clear and tested cattery for PKD by DNA !! Its been a long and expensive not to mention stressful time in doing this testing, but it is for the betterment of the persian breed ultimately. So we had to take a few backward steps last season in order to go forward.
It is only early days for Loretto Cattery, and we do have a long way to go to achieve our own unique look. The look we are striving for is one of large stunning flawless coats, Heavy boning, LARGE round BLUE sweet expressive eyes, small ears, and that gorgeous sweet open expression.
Early 2007 we imported 2 magnificent persians from Bente Gundersen, from Uno Persians in Norway. These two boys will definately make their mark here at Loretto, and we should see a significant improvement with the overall quality and type of our persians from now on.
We place great emphasis on socialising our Loretto Himalayan kittens. They are born and raised inside our home, and are loved and adored until it is time for them to leave to go to their own furreva home.
Our Prefix Name..... People often ask us where we got our prefix "Loretto" from. Just before we started breeding, we had a trip around Europe, and on our trip to Prague we visited a little Chuch grotto called "Loreto". We are not religous people, but this moved us to tears, it was the most beautiful place we had ever seen, and that memory stuck with us.
So when it came time to select a name that would stay with us during our cat breeding career, we had to choose Loretto - we added the extra "T" to our name, so not to take away the focus from the Church at all. If you ever get the chance to visit Prague, we highly recommend a visit to the Loreto.

We would like to think that anyone who adopts a Loretto kitten is moved and has their life changed by their kitten, the way this church did for us.
With thanks.....

Without the generosity of a few breeders to entrust their babies with us, would we be where we are today.
Thank you to Karen Thomson from Catmandu Cattery for entrusting us with our baby "Biscuit". Biscuit was our foundation queen. Biscuit has now gone to her furreva pet home to be spoilt just like her baies all have! But Biscuits lines will continue on within Loretto's breeding. Especially now with our new girl "Sensation" - who is the same genetics as our Biscuit mixed with our Loretto lines. Thanks again Karen for getting me started into the world or Himalayan breeding, and thanks for being such a good friend.
The biggest thank you goes to Bente Gundersen from Uno Persians in Norway. Bente has paid us the greatest compliment, by entrusting us with her "baby" "Blue Moonlight. He is a European Champion and he has sired many BIS and CH kittens all over Europe. To think we have him here in Australia is more than a dream come true. He will elevate the standard of the himalayan within Australia in time. Bente has also entrusted us with a gorgeous solid black named Spitting Image. His lines are impeccible and those big round bright copper eyes are the most amazing that I have ever seen. Thank you Bente for trusting us with your lines, you are a wonderful friend!
And thank you to Carolyn Baker from Sandypaws, Florida USA. Little did Carolyn know, when I first emailed her to say how much I adored her cats, that we would start a long distance friendship. I thank Carolyn for her patience and understanding and her guidance of this "newbie" in to the world of Himalayan breeding!
And a BIG THANKS to my wonderful true friends, whilst some do and some don't breed himalayans, it is refreshing to find true friendship that will last thru the rigours of the Cat Fancy and all it brings. Thanks to:
Rachelle from Cute As Cats - where would I be without you, your the one who keeps me sane!!
Dianne Hayes from Ashdene Persians, we started out together in silvers and who'd thought we'd come together again in our programme of solids! Thanks for being there for me thru thick n thin.
Sue Fitzgerald from Deearden Silvers, who also started guiding me in the beginnings of breeding silvers and today we are still good friends..... your friendship and guidance has made it all worth while - thank you! And now a big thank you for adopting our baby black girl "Hollywood Nights" - may she bring loads of love and laughter and most especially, gorgeous babies into your breeding programme Sue!
Thank you for visiting......
We thank you for your time in visiting Loretto Cattery. Please leave a "paw print" in our guest book - we really enjoy reading your comments!
As we are no longer breeding, we trust you have enjoyed our website as a gallery and as tribute to all the beautiful cats and kittens that have been a huge part of our lives. We thank all the breeders who have taken Loretto cats and kittens into their care to continue on our legacy of improving the persian breed.
Thank you.
Vicki
